Startup Quest, an innovative entrepreneurship training program for unemployed or underemployed degree-holding professionals, will be holding an introductory workshop for its 2013 program tomorrow afternoon from 12:30 - 4:30PM at the Gainesville Country Club, 7500 SW 35th Way. Attendees can learn more about the program, review eligibility requirements and hear from past participants and mentors.
A University of Florida program, participants develop business plans for simulated companies based on real technologies under the guidance of successful entrepreneurial mentors. Each team is matched with a technology generated by a Florida university, federal lab or NASA. Formed by partnerships between FloridaWorks, the University of Florida Office of Technology Licensing, the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce, and many different entrepreneurs and investors, Startup Quest empowers its participants with the skills needed to start up their own company or to become a more valuable employee for startup companies.
By creating new pathways for employement and self-employment, Startup Quest is strengthening communities and proving that training entrepreneurs is the best use of tax dollars spent on workforce training. Through collaboration and integration of universities, workforce boards, chambers of commerce, innovation networks and other organizational stakeholders more jobs will be created by startup companies.
